IPSIS to provide training for the Ministry of Defence
Members of IPSIS have won a new contract to provide CPD in “Behaviour of Organizations” for the Ministry of Defence. The previous contract had been withdrawn, and this new contract was won in the face of severe competition. It is potentially worth over £400k over 5 years to the School, part of a £1.2M package for the university.
This contract cements the strong research relationship that has existed between the group and the Armed Forces for over 5 years and led to important advances in our understanding of the psychology of stress, retention, motivation and performance.
Psychology of Organisations short course success
In November we ran a short course that focused on the psychology of groups (and on the effective cultivation and management of organisational identities) can play a key role in promoting organisational success.
Drawing on their experience conducting research in leading UK-based organisations, the presenters outlined practical solutions to common organisational problems.
Delegates learnt how to critically evaluate mainstream approaches to the role of psychology in organisational success in light of fresh empirical and theoretical developments. They had the opportunity to design practical solutions to current organisational problems that build on these insights and draw on the experiences of teaching staff in their collaborations with leading UK-based organisations.
The course was very well received:
"excellent well presented course."
"many thanks: extremely beneficial for my personal development."
"Excellent, thank you."
