Overview

Pani is a joint PhD researcher with the QUEX Institute for Global Sustainability and Wellbeing at the University of Queensland (Australia), where she was a Rotary Peace Fellow at the School of Political Science and International Studies, and University of Exeter (UK), where she is currently based at the School of Psychology.

Supervised by Assoc. Prof. Kim Peters (Business School), Prof. Michelle Ryan, and Prof. Alex Haslam across the two institutions, her PhD research project examines the implications of gender and leadership stereotypes on women's political leadership experiences and career trajectories.

With a Bachelor's Degree in Speech Communication and Journalism, and a Master's Degree in Peace and Conflict Resolution, Pani has a broad interdisciplinary background as a human rights and gender equity researcher and specialist in organisational and international development.

She has worked extensively across four continents with Nobel Peace Laureates and community leaders, civil society and academic institutions, as well as government and UN agencies on projects ranging from refugee and women's rights, youth development and peace education, to public policy and advocacy.

Through her PhD research project, Pani hopes to make a mixed methods contribution to the understanding of why social and psychological factors must be included in organisational, national, and global policy considerations towards achieving gender parity in politics.
