Emily Widnall
Associate Research Fellow
Profile
Emily Widnall is an Associate Research Fellow on the ADepT Programme (Augmented Depression Therapy) working with Dr Barney Dunn. ADepT is a novel talking therapy for depression that aims to simultaneously reduce negativity and build positivity in an effort to keep people well in the long term. ADepT has been developed alongside service-users and NHS clinicians and we now aim to evaluate if the novel talking therapy for depression is better than current best practice in the NHS (Cognitive Behaviour Therapy) in reducing depression and in building wellbeing.
Emily joined the Mood Disorders Centre in 2014 as part of the Graduate Business Partnership Scheme, and has coordinated the AccEPT Clinic for the past year. Prior to this, Emily worked for the AnDy Research Unit in Reading as part of her MSc evaluating an online Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT) treatment specifically designed for adolescents, which investigated whether adding components that address family factors can improve treatment outcome.
