Dr Felicity Southworth
PhD student

Profile

I am Exeter Graduate Fellow based in the Mood Disorder, supervised by Prof. Ed Watkins and Dr. Anke Karl. The aim of my PhD is to investigate the relationship between depressive rumination and selective attention, in particular, whether difficulty disengaging attention from negative information is an underlying process involved in depressive rumination. It is expected that this research will have implications for interventions aimed at reducing depressive rumination, particularly the use of attention bias modification (ABM).

I also have a general interest in underlying cognitive processes involved in psychological disorders, and cognitive bias modification (CBM) techniques.

In addition to my academic responsibilities, I am also Chair of the Postgraduate Researcher Liason Forum for Psychology.
