Joanne Woodford
Research Fellow


Joanne is currently working as a Research Fellow on the PROMOTE Study, led by Professor Paul Farrand, within Clinical Education Development and Research (CEDAR).  The PROMOTE study comprises of a series of iterative research projects to develop and examine the feasibility and acceptability of a new type of support to improve wellbeing in people living with memory difficulties, supported by their family members or friends and guided by wellbeing practitioners within the NHS.

Prior to this study, Joanne gained a Research Training Fellowship to obtain her PhD, funded by the Dunhill Medical Trust, to develop and test a low intensity CBT intervention for carers of stroke survivors experiencing depression and / or anxiety.

Joanne has a particular passion for improving access to effective psychological therapies for people with common mental health conditions and the development of interventions specifically for older adults, people with co-morbid chronic physical health conditions and their carers.
