Overview

Dr Jean Knox is a psychiatrist and a Jungian analyst with a relational and attachment-based approach. She is a Training Analyst of the Society of Analytical Psychology, a Senior Member and Training Therapist of the British Association of Psychotherapists. She has written and taught extensively on the relevance of attachment theory and developmental neuroscience to psychotherapy theory and practice.

Broad research specialisms:

  • Attachment theory,
  • neuroscience and their relevance to the theory
  • practice of psychodynamic psychotherapy

Qualifications

PhD; MBBS; MRCPsych.

Research interests

Communicative interaction in parent-infant and adult-adult dyads and their relevance for understanding the psychotherapy process.

Research projects

Using conversational analysis to study transcripts of psychotherapy sessions and identify key features of talk-in-interaction and explore their links with patterns of parent-infant communication.
