Career

Rob attained his undergraduate degree in Hull in 1995, before working in the NHS as an assistant psychologist with people with a learning disability, adults of a working age, dual diagnosis clients, child and adolescents and people with a substance dependency. He attained his Doctorate in Clinical Psychology in Plymouth in 2003 before completing an MSc in Psychological Therapies (CBT) here in Exeter in 2007. He previously worked as the HI CBT Academic lead and and on the CoBalT trail which was the largest ever trial conducted into the use of CBT for treatment resistant depression. He has run a county wide IAPT service and been Clinical Lead for Psychology in Southern Devon CAMHS. He wrote the Mind and Mood transdiagnostic 6 session treatment group for secondary school aged children used in a number of CAMHS settings. He is currently the prgram lead for the WP-CWP and EMHP programmes. Prior to this he worked as the Program Director for the BSc Applied Psychology (Clinical) program and the Program lead for the low intensity CBT Enhanced Evidence Based (EEBP) Program for children and families. He has presented workshops for the BABCP (local and national conferences) and Irish Council for Psychotherapy, and published in the British Journal of Clinical Psychology and in the edited book "How to become a more effective CBT therapist".
