Alan Slater is an Associate Professor in the School of Psychology


Interests:

My research is into the development of perceptual and cognitive abilities in infancy.

Current research investigates the origins and development of representation and early reasoning in infants, including such topics as:

  • When are infants able to associate faces with their voices
  • Infants' ability to represent the properties of visible and invisible objects
  • Infants' ability to categorise speech sounds
  • The relationship between infant phonological abilities and those in later childhood.
