Dr Alex Boyd

Dr Alex Boyd is an Associate Professor, Co-Director of the Children and Young People’s Psychological Training Programmes and Director of Perinatal Clinical Psychology Training. She is a Clinical Psychologist, BABCP-accredited Cognitive Behavioural Therapist, and Senior Fellow of the Higher Education Academy (SFHEA).

Alex specialises in working with children, young people, parents, carers, and families, and has extensive clinical experience across both NHS and independent practice settings. In her leadership roles, she oversees the development and delivery of training programmes designed to expand the psychological workforce and improve access to evidence-based psychological therapies as well as running an independent clinical psychology practice.

Her work focuses on supporting the education and professional development of psychological practitioners and therapists, helping to ensure high-quality mental health care for children, young people, and families. Alongside her academic and training responsibilities, Alex maintains a strong commitment to clinical practice and the application of psychological therapies across the lifespan.
