Fidan is an early career academic working as a Lecturer in Clinical Psychology at the University of Exeter. Her past research has been varied and multidisciplinary, focusing on mental health and clinical psychology, with a specific emphasis on eating disorders and body image. Fidan’s postdoctoral work, funded by NIHR and EU Horizon, focused on investigating integrated care pathways for individuals with various long-term health conditions, including mental health issues, within the Mental Health and Addictions Research Group at the University of York. Fidan received the prestigious Seymour Fisher Outstanding Body Image Dissertation Award for her PhD in 2022.
Fidan is particularly interested in understanding the aetiology and mechanisms of eating disorders. The aim of her research is to improve treatment outcomes by ensuring they cater to the diverse needs of individuals. She has an extensive research background, utilising various methodologies, including advanced qualitative, quantitative, and mixed methods.
