Lecturer (Assistant Professor) in Psychology

My research aims to advance understanding of the mental processes that shape emotion, behaviour, and mental health, with a focus on translating experimental science to clinically relevant theory and intervention. Using both established and novel methods, I investigate how patterns of attention, interpretation, evaluation, memory, and expectation influence psychological outcomes.

Alongside my research, I serve as Secretary Director of the Association for Cognitive Bias Modification and as a member of the Editorial Board of the International Journal of Cognitive Therapy.

I completed my PhD in Psychology at the University of Western Australia in 2016 under the supervision of Professor Colin MacLeod. Following this, I coordinated cognitive intervention trials at the Western Australia Centre for Health and Ageing, examining approaches to reduce depressive symptoms in people living with dementia. In 2018, I joined the Centre for the Advancement of Research on Emotion at the University of Western Australia as a Research Fellow, where I investigated the role of cognitive and information processing mechanisms in emotion and behaviour.

I joined the University of Exeter in 2022 and continue to hold an Adjunct Research Fellow position at the University of Western Australia.
