I am a Lecturer in the Department of Psychology at the University of Exeter. My research examines social and moral development between childhood, adolescence and young adulthood. Some of my specific research interests include:
Speciesism & Animal Welfare
Many people love their pets, and abhor those who harm animals - and yet, most people eat animal products. How do children resolve this fundamental conflict between their moral concern for the welfare of living beings and the societal convention for eating meat?
Resource Allocation
Resources are not distributed equitably around the globe. I am interested in understanding how children and adolescents distribute resources in inter-group contexts. How do social processes influence these decisions? How can we use our understanding of social development to challenge resource inequality?
STEM Inclusion & Equity
The world of science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) is dominated by men and people from majority ethnic backgrounds. Evidence suggests that this inequality emerges in childhood and adolescence. How can we understand and challenge the psychological processes underlying this?
