About me:
I am an Associate Professor and Director of the Studies in Psychoanalytic Psychotherapy portfolio of programmes, in the Psychology School, within the Faculty of Health and Life Sciences.
I have worked at the University of Exeter for over twenty years in the Psychology Department, in the Faculty of Health and Life Sciences. I have designed and led several programmes including a Master's programme and clinical training programme and currently, the Doctor of Clinical Practice (Research), a training programme to enable clinicians to become researchers and the Doctor of Psychodynamic and Psychoanalytic Psychotherapy Clinical Practice programme providing British Psychoanalytic Council accredited clinical trainings to become either a Psychodynamic Psychotherapist or a Psychoanalytic Psychotherapist. These programmes enable access to clinical and research training from across the UK and Internationally. I have published widely and work as a consultant and clinical supervisor to both trainee and qualified analysts and psychotherapists. I also consult to organisations.
I supervise post-graduate research at doctoral and masters level and act as an External Examiner to both academic and clinical programmes across the UK.
For many years I worked in health and social services, in child protection, forensic and general mental health both as a clinician and a manager. I have worked as a psychotherapist and as an analyst for over forty years having originally trained at the Society of Analytical Psychology where I am a training analyst. I have taught and published nationally and internationally on psychoanalytic subjects as well as in developmental science and the forensic field, more generally.
