Silvana is a Lecturer in Clinical Psychology with a background in developmental cognitive neuroscience. Her work focuses on understanding neurodivergence and mental health in children and young people, taking a transdiagnostic approach that looks beyond traditional diagnostic labels.
Her research has two main strands. One uses large-scale datasets to explore patterns of neurodevelopment and mental health across diagnostic boundaries. The other is more applied and collaborative: Silvana works closely with families and other stakeholders with lived experience to explore how these insights can inform educational and healthcare systems that are more responsive to individual needs, rather than driven by diagnostic thresholds.
Prior to joining Psychology, Silvana worked at Centre for Attention, Learning, and Memory (CALM) at the Cognition and Brain Sciences Unit, University of Cambridge, Children Young People's Mental Health (ChYMe) research collaboration and the Mental Health Research Initiative (PenMHRI) at NIHR PenARC, University of Exeter.
