Dr Tobias Stevens

About me:

I am a Senior Lecturer in Psychology at the School of Psychology at the University of Exeter. I was trained as a clinical neuropsychologist and completed my PhD in cognitive neuroscience. My previous clinical and research experience includes working on cognitive modification in gambling and contributing to a trial testing treatments for alcohol abuse.

I am now primarily focused on education and conducting research with undergraduate and postgraduate students. My main focus is teaching clinical psychology and research methods. In addition, I teach subjects such as biological psychology and cognitive psychology. I manage the final year projects of the BSc in psychology and am the final year tutor. My current research investigates recreational drug use and addiction, specifically focusing on the motivational and emotional underpinnings of drug and alcohol use. Additionally, I am studying motivation in undergraduate students to help improve their learning.
