Yavanna Burnham

I am a NERC-funded PhD student. My project focuses on the role of discounting (subjective devaluation of rewards with a cost - generally time or effort) in investment decisions made by grey squirrels (Sciurus carolinensis), mainly focusing on the choices they make when storing food for winter. I'm particularly interested in context-dependent discounting and have been exploring how competition, dominance, and body condition influence how steeply a squirrel devalues a reward.
