Overview

Gill is Co-Director and Academic Lead on the Clinical Associate in Psychology (CAP) course. She is a Chartered Clinical Psychologist who completed her training at the University of Edinburgh in 2011 where she specialised in Older Person’s Mental Health. Gill worked in NHS Scotland in an Older Person’s Mental Health Service before moving to Christchurch in New Zealand where she was involved in the development of a specialist service for older people following the Canterbury Earthquakes in 2011.

She later worked in regional Queensland in Australia for 5 years where she was involved in developing a new Cancer and Palliative Care service and became an Australian citizen. Upon moving back to the UK, Gill returned to work in NHS Lothian in a secondary care service before taking up her first academic post with the University of Exeter in May 2021.

2001: MA in Psychology with German. University of Dundee
2011: Doctorate in Clinical Psychology (DClinPsy) University of Edinburgh
Current: MSc in Clinical Neuropsychology. University of Glasgow

Research

Research interests

Gill is particularly interested in approaches relating to adult attachment, shame and complex trauma, health psychology, neuropsychology and older adult mental health. She is currently involved in an Epilepsy Research Interest Group under the direction of Dr. Cordet Smart in the Psychology Department.
