Overview

I have a BSc and MSc in Biology from Aarhus University, Denmark, with special focus on underwater acoustics, marine mammal physiology, cetacean vocal and social behaviour. For the final year project of my BSc, I investigated the presence of distinct sperm whale (Physeter macrocephalus) vocal clans in the Caribbean Ocean, and for my MSc I studied vocal and nursing behaviour of Southern right whales (Eubalaena australis) at their breeding grounds. During both my BSc and MSc I have developed a strong interest in mammalian, and particular cetacean, social behaviour and life history.

During my PhD at University of Exeter I will continue further into the research of the evolution of behaviour and life history by studying it from the unique perspective of killer whales, supervised by Prof. Darren P. Croft, Dr.Daniel Franks (University of York), Prof. Micael Cant and Dr. Sam Ellis.
