Overview

My Background: I have been applying psychology within the workplace since the year 2000, and am a Chartered member of the CIPD, Certified Business Psychologist with the ABP and member of the BPS. I have experience within the private, public and voluntary sectors. In 2012, I set up my own consultancy helping organisations and individuals with change to achieve their goals.  Projects included: re-brand/cultural change; leadership development; wellbeing; and equality and diversity, as well as creating and delivering training provisions for Bath University, UWE and Virgin Care. I have always studied alongside my practice and my professional qualifications include coaching, workplace mediation, psychometric assessment, teaching, solution-focused therapy, and hypnotherapy.

My undergraduate degree was in Psychology with Environmental Sustainability and I continued my sustainability interests through environmental roles at work. Currently, I teach on the Business Sustainability module at Bath Spa University, as well as subjects related to Business Psychology and Human Resources.

My PhD: Over the years I have worked and taught many Human Resources professionals. It was not uncommon to meet people who felt frustrated that despite putting policies and training in place, employees would often conform to their colleagues' social behaviours. My research explores social influences on pro-environmental behaviour in the workplace, through the application of the Social Identity Model for Pro-Environmental Action (Fritsche, et al, 2018). This model explores the role of social identity, norms, collective efficacy, motivation and emotions. I am particularly interested in the role of collective hope, providing motivation and resilience to continue pro-environmental behaviours.

I am working with a range of organisations, at different stages of their sustainability journey. If you would like to know more or are interested in getting involved in my research please contact me, to see how I could help.

Research interests: Social Identity Theory, Social Norms, Collective Emotions, Motivation, Employee Engagement, Wellbeing, Green HRM, Corporate Social Responsibility, Organisational Change
