Overview

Naina Eira Gupta is undertaking interdisciplinary research at the intersections of philosophy, psychology, and neuroscience with a focus on the therapeutic potential of psychedelics and meditation. Supervised by Dr Peter Sjöstedt Hughes, Dr Leor Roseman, and Professor Celia Morgan, her current research examines altered states of consciousness—specifically, the phenomena of unitive experiences and ego dissolution. This investigation seeks to harness these experiences to inform the development of innovative meditation practices that enhance the integration aspect of Psychedelic-Assisted Therapies. Furthermore, Gupta's engagement and practice with Vedanta and Vajrayana tantra in Mahayana Buddhism underpins her research with the non-dualistic elements of Eastern Philosophy. Additionally, she is teaching the Vedanta course in the Postgraduate program of Psychedelics at the University of Exeter.
