Profile
Dr Julia Teale is a Research Fellow in the Centre for Research in Ageing and Cognitive Health (REACH). Julia is based within the Institute of Health Research (Medical School) and is affiliated with the School of Psychology.
Julia joined the University of Exeter in 2016. Prior to this, she worked as a Lecturer at Abertay University Dundee and as an ESRC funded postgraduate researcher (MRes, PhD) at the University of St Andrews.
Julia’s current research at REACH focuses on maintaining cognitive health in later life. In her previous research, she examined individual differences in memory across the lifespan, and the cognitive mechanisms which underlie inhibitory control and working memory capacity. Broadly, Julia is interested in better understanding why some individuals experience cognitive deficits in later life whilst others do not.

Cognitive reserve; memory and ageing; memory inhibition; working memory; individual differences in memory.
