Overview

As a PhD student, I am interested in the relationship between physical activity and natural environments in people with Severe Mental Illness: Bipolar Disorder and Psychosis. I aim to investigate how natural environments (green and blue spaces) and physical activity (dose, volume and pattern) may improve mental health symptoms and well-being. Another interest of mine is reviewing the mechanisms involved in the relationship between physical activity, natural environments and mental health. These mechanisms include capacity building (social contact), reduction from harm (air and noise pollution) and attention restoration.
